Offshore Crane Operator Stage 2 Reassessment
Description
Operators will be assessed to their current Stage 2 carrying out routine crane maintenance operations, performing various practical exercised and/ or observed carrying out normal offshore crane operations.
In addition to normal operation, Operators will be expected to correctly demonstrate emergency response procedures as well as their competence to operate during a range of conditions.
The Crane Simulator’s software will be configured as closely as possible to the crane that the Operator regularly operates. This includes the use of subsea simulator software for marine crane operators required to operate subsea.
Assessment Content
- Assessment of crane operating skills and knowledge of crane operating parameters
- Assessment of compliance with relevant legislation, guidance and approved
- Codes of practice.
- Assessment of ability to operate in a wide range of operating conditions, including emergency scenarios
Having undergone a competence assessment the operator will be deemed either competent or not yet competent.
In cases of the latter, a programme of further training will be suggested in order that the operator might gain further experience and improved operational skills. Thereafter, a further assessment will be required to re-assess the crane operator’s practical performance

Current in-date Stage 2 Offshore Crane Operator Certificate in accordance with BS7121 Part 11
