Offshore Crane Operator Stage 1 Training
Stage 1 forms the theoretical basis for offshore crane operations and is aimed at novice crane operators or those operators who require the industry accepted qualification. Stage 2 should follow as soon as possible after stage 1 and is conducted at the trainee’s normal offshore installation.

- Roles and responsibilities of an offshore lifting team
- Banksman and Load handler duties
- Relevant standards and legislation
- Basic crane functions Crane inspection criteria
- Pre start / Pre operational checks / Running checks / Shutdown procedure
- Basic crane principles of stability and configurations
- Crane safety devices & Emergency systems
- Crane operating principles and load charts
- Regionally recognised banksman signals
- Radio communication protocols and procedures
- Rated capacity indicators
- Crane wire rope spooling and condition
- Environmental conditions
- Crane operating techniques – Slew swing control / Floating the load.
Target Audience
Delegates with little or no previous crane experience.
Certification
Upon course completion, the delegate will receive an EnerMech training certificate that is issued in accordance with BS7121 Part 11
Revalidation
To comply with BS7121 Part 11, Offshore Crane Operators are required to undergo re-assessments at two yearly intervals.
