Hydrostatic Pressure Testing
This course delivers practical and theory knowledge and experience for construction personnel who are conducting leak and pressure testing, to ensure they work safely at all times based on industry accepted best practice.
Description
Training Content
Theory:
- Introduction to hydrostatic pressure/leak testing
- Basic understanding of pressure
- Definitions o Purposes of testing
- Test types and mediums o Applicable codes and standards e.g ASME, BSEN, HSE GS4 including pressure ratings
- Test set-up
- Equipment types e.g tangye pumps, air operated pump, diesel pump, gauges, chart recorders (generally analogue but reference to digital will also be provided.)
- Pressure/leak testing techniques using water
- Pressure/leak testing procedures
- Hazards associated with pressure/leak testing and typical control measures
- Dynamic hazards and management of change
Practical:
- Practical area and equipment familiarisation
- Toolbox talk & risk assessment
- Performing gross leak testing under supervision using a small volume section of pipework – further definition based on procedures.
- Depressurisation procedure and re-instate the work area
Target Audience
This training programme has been developed to meet the needs of those involved in hydrostatic leak / pressure testing.
Certification
Upon successful course completion, the delegate will receive an EnerMech certificate.
