This course is designed for delegates wishing to become competent in the Banksman & Slinger role in the oil and gas industry.

This course is aimed at personnel responsible for the issuing and control of lifting equipment from a Rigging Loft onboard an offshore installation, or a shore based workplace. It aims to provide training in the appropriate rigging loft management systems and the in-use inspection requirements of lifting equipment.

The LOLER Competent Person plans or approves all lifting operations in the workplace and ensures lifting operations comply with LOLER regulations and company procedures. The course provides an assessment of the LOLER Competent Person’s competence.

The aim and objectives are to provide the delegate with knowledge of the rigging principles, general hazards and risks of rigging and lifting operations, an awareness of relevant legislation and regulation, and an opportunity to practice basic rigging operations following a lifting plan. Delegate performance in practical exercises will be evaluated against learning outcomes where delegates will be required to demonstrate various rigging tasks.

This course is designed for all levels of personnel who are involved in lifting operations, the administration of lifting operations, and completion of lifting equipment records. Companies must be able to provide evidence that their contractors and staff have the training, competency and knowledge to work safely.

This course is designed to give Installation Supervisory level personnel in-depth coverage of LOLER 98 Regulations and requirements in order that they might set up controls and systems to implement LOLER requirements.

The target group for Competence Assessment is personnel that wish to become certified competent Banksmen & Slingers – having previously completed Banksman & Slinging training, and/or possess sufficient and relevant work experience to be eligible for the Competence assessment.

This is aimed at personnel who have had previous training and experience in rigging and lifting operations. Delegates will complete the following tasks: 1) Obtain and position the lifting equipment and lifting accessories as detailed in the lifting plan 2) Loft, cross-haul and lower loads 3) Move loads where there are obstruction restricting the direct path of the load e.g. over, under or around pipework.

This part-day course is designed to impart the knowledge to change wheels correctly, be fully aware of all safety aspects, maintenance and general operational requirements

Operators will be assessed to their current stage 3 carrying out routine crane maintenance operations, performing various practical exercised and/ or observed carrying out normal offshore crane operations. In addition to normal operation, Operators will be expected to correctly demonstrate emergency response procedures as well as their competence to operate during a range of conditions.

The aim of this course is to provide Learners with the theoretical and practical skills to plan and organise basic routine lifting operations. The programme includes methods and techniques that will instruct in the process and procedures that are essential in planning and management of lifting operations in the wind industry.

The purpose of this course is to provide basic safe working knowledge in the use of an overhead gantry crane, along with simple slinging practices and a basic knowledge of lifting equipment.

The aim of this course is to share knowledge on the subjects of Bulk Loading Hoses and associated connections. To bring to the attention of all personnel the Bulk Hose Best Practice Guide which is in compliance with the Step Change in Safety, the Marine Safety Forum, OGUK and NEWA.

This is a 1 day course which covers the elements listed below in the training content section. On completion of the course the candidate will have received a good basic introduction to Flexible hose assemblies enabling them to work safely with hydraulic hoses and associated connectors which are in use on most pieces of equipment, machinery and plant in every industrial sector.

This BFPA accredited refresher training and assessment course is designed to ensure the avoidance of technical skills fade and allows delegates to be updated on manufacturer and industry lead body best practices. Delegates will be required to complete both written and practical assessments and on successful completion will have their Hose Assembly Skills passport renewed for a further 3 years.

ECITB Appointed Person Moving Loads introduces the role and responsibilities of the person appointed to oversee, plan or manage lifts or moving loads operations. This 4-day course includes three classroom-based days, which involve theoretical lessons and exercises. Understanding of the theory and techniques covered within the initial three days will then be assessed in a written question and calculations paper, followed by the practical planning and performance of a lift on the final day.

Stage 1 forms the theoretical basis for offshore crane operations and is aimed at novice crane operators or those operators who require the industry accepted qualification. Stage 2 should follow as soon as possible after stage 1 and is conducted at the trainee’s normal offshore installation.

This 1 day training programme has been developed to meet the needs of Instrument Fitters, Instrument Technicians, and all personnel involved in the maintenance, inspection and repair of equipment plant and machinery with pressure pipework and tubing installed using compression fittings.

This course will provide delegates with a good understanding of fittings and adaptor used in systems comprising Flexible Hose Assemblies. Correct identification and matching of these components is essential to ensure the safety of personnel and maintaining machine/equipment integrity. A hands on approach is taken to ensure that delegates completing the course are aware of the wide range of fittings and adaptors available and the correct methods used for identification.

This course aims to impart the necessary knowledge to allow personnel to be able to manually handle light loads safely and efficiently around the workplace, and enables them to assess possible problems, thus minimizing the risk of injury. Over a quarter of all accidents reported each year are associated with the manual handling of loads. Strains and sprains are most common but amputations, physical impairment and permanent disabilities are also frequent.

The aim of the OPITO LCP Assessment and LCP Re-assessment is to establish that learners have the required underpinning knowledge, understanding and practical skills to undertake the role as a LOLER Competent Person/ LOLER Focal Point at the workplace. To successfully complete these assessments learners must be able to read and write in English.

The aim of the OPITO Lift Planning Training is to provide learners with theoretical and practical skills to plan and organise the optimum resources needed to safely plan lifting operations under the supervision of LOLER Appointed Person/LOLER Focal Point, within their workplace. This course provides familiarisation training in the safe use of a specific knuckle boom crane type. It is suitable for training personnel who use only this type of crane and is not intended as the basis for general offshore crane operations.
