OPITO Lift Planning Training
The aim of the OPITO Lift Planning Training is to provide learners with theoretical and practical skills to plan and organise the optimum resources needed to safely plan lifting operations under the supervision of LOLER Appointed Person/LOLER Focal Point, within their workplace. To successfully complete the training learners must be able to read and write in English.

Assessment Content
The Lift Planning Training comprises of the following units:
- OIS – 370 The Planning of Lifting Operations - Practical
- OIS – 371 The Planning of Lifting Operations - Theory
- OIS – 372 Hazards and the Lifting Operations Risk Assessment for Lifting
- Operations - Practical
- OIS – 373 Hazards and the Lifting Operations Risk Assessment for Lifting
- Operations - Theory
The written assessments comprise of an open book paper made up of scenario-based questions, true/false and multiple-choice questions. The pass mark for this paper is 80%. The practical assessments are based on each learner producing a lifting plan and risk assessment for a load which must: have an offset centre of gravity; require a minimum of two leg bridle/slings; have anchor/attachment points or slinging arrangements that differ in height from each other.
A successful learner must meet all the Practical Assessment criteria.
Target Audience
Personnel who are required to participate and/or assist in the planning of lifting operations and who have a recognized Offshore Lifting and Hoisting qualification, detailed below in the entry requirements section.

1) A valid OPITO Approved Rigger Competence Assessment/Re-assessment (Stage 3/4) Certificate or
2) A valid OPITO Approved Banksman and Slinger Competence Assessment/Reassessment (Stage 3/4) Certificate or
3) A valid OPITO Approved Drilling Rigger Competence Assessment/Re-assessment Certificate
